Earlier this year we gave our customers the very exciting news that we were launching a new ZiwiPeak Beef formula to the market. The launch started with the Daily-Dog Air Dried Cuisine and wow, what a great response we have had! It has certainly had the bark of approval from dogs all around the world, in our own homes, and in yours. We are pleased to let you know the exciting news that the beef formula is now available for your feline friends too, with the launch of our air dried Daily-Cat Beef Cuisine. Now not only can your dog’s enjoy the delicious flavour and goodness of our 100% natural New Zealand grass-fed beef, your cats can too!

Our ZiwiPeak beef has no added hormones, no antibiotics, and no growth promotants – ZiwiPeak beef is quite simply one of the cleanest, purest, beef formulations in the world. Now that’s unconditional love at its finest.

Here are some FAQ’s to help you get you know ZiwiPeak beef a little better

Where does ZiwiPeak Beef come from? 100% of ZiwiPeak grass-fed beef comes from the lush pastures of New Zealand. We don’t use any beef raised in feedlots.

Is Grass-Fed Beef healthier than grain-fed beef? Grass-fed beef is higher in vitamin E, vitamin C, beta-carotene and health benefiting fats such as CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), and is lower in cholesterol and saturated fat than grain-fed beef. Grass-fed beef also have a higher proportion of Omega-3 to Omega-6 essential fatty acids, important in a healthy diet and reduces the risk of many diseases.

Are the animals treated with growth hormones? No. ZiwiPeak grass-fed beef is never treated with growth hormones.

Are the animals confined? What about during winter? ZiwiPeak grass-fed cattle are never confined. New Zealand’s temperate climate and lush pastures mean that it is not necessary to bring cattle into barns or pens during the winter.

What types of grasses are the cattle raised on? The cattle eat a variety of grasses, predominately rye grass with clover and other broad leaf grasses in spring and summer. If needed in winter when there is less grass growth, the cattle can be fed leafy crops such as chicory or brassicas, or hay harvested in the summer.

Does grass-fed beef taste different? The flavour profile of beef is influenced by what the animal eats during its lifetime. Many connoisseurs of beef consider grass-fed beef to have a richer, truer beef flavour.

Is there saturated fat in grass-fed beef? Yes, and this can be misleading. The only saturated fat in grass-fed beef is a “good” fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) which can reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity and diabetes. It is actually the only type of saturated fat that is considered healthy.

What about BSE? There has never been a case of BSE, or mad cow disease, in New Zealand. We are a relatively isolated island nation that maintains strict biosecurity and quarantine regulations.
